Be Prepared, is something that everyone is probably familiar with. Some people are probably more prepared than others as it comes more natural for some. I feel I have always had a natural sense of Being Prepared that was fine tuned at a young age in Boy Scouts. Be Prepared is the Scout Motto. I was in Cub Scouts for 5 years and Boy Scouts for 8 years, in that time I achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 17. As an adult I have continued to apply the Scout Motto to everyday life. I try to be in a state of readiness in Mind and Body to do whatever needs to be done at any given time.
-Be Prepared in Mind for me is thinking out beforehand any accident or situation that might occur, so the right thing can be done at the right moment. I always have that what if in the back of my mind. That's why it is hard for me to pack light when going on a trip.
-Be Prepared in Body for me is making myself strong and active and able to do the right thing at the right moment. I try to set aside at least 30 minutes a day of physical activity that's sole purpose is keep my body physically fit. A healthy diet should be a must for everyone, for it does go hand in hand with being physically active and feeling good.
Tying it all together, when going on outings such as hiking, camping, or even just a road trip I always carried a piece of rope with me because I never know when I might need it. I then discovered Paracord bracelets when my wife got me one for Christmas one year, this was a perfect gift for me. It made it so I could wear my rope and have it ready available literally within arms reach. I then ventured into making both bracelets and belts and other gear for myself then I kept getting request from other people for me to make Paracord gear for them which then grew into my company that I have now. So whether you're setting out on month long trail expeditions or going about your day to day routine, I encourage you to Be Prepared.
